The Cotesbach Educational Trust was established as a charity in 2008. It is the inspiration of a group of previously unconnected individuals who, having experienced the cultural richness and unique heritage of a cluster of dilapidated but historically significant buildings, decided to set about preserving them for the benefit of a broad and diverse community.
We are located at the heart of rural Midlands close to the meeting point of Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
The first step on our journey is to restore an 18th Century schoolhouse, by March 2012, in the grounds of the Cotesbach Estate to become an educational resource centre and meeting place for community, schools and interest groups of all ages.
Environment, heritage and the arts combine to form our core learning focus for which we draw on the rich diversity of resources around us.
Once completed, the facilities will enable people to learn, research or simply meet up together in the unique, informal setting of the Schoolhouse and surrounding area.
The Trust will enable us as a village to build on the spirit of community which as been built up on Cotesbach Estate over the past two decades - many events ave focused on the Stable Yard, which is adjacent to the Schoolhouse, and which has been a hub of rural activity for over 500 years. Together with its educational aims, the Schoolouse will provide an essential information point and facilities for holding a variety of events, and it will also become a source of volunteer and paid job opportunities.
This blog will follow the work as it progresses with contributions from Trustees and volunteers.
